ABOUT THIS SITE Welcome to Wahhabis.Com. Muhammad bin Abd al-Wahhaab - who is commonly referred to as the founder of the 'Wahhabi sect', is the subject of much discussion, dispute and controversy. Sectarian and (geo-)political agendas are behind much of the controversy and misconceptions around Ibn Abd al-Wahhab and his monotheistic movement in the 18th century (CE). The controversy is fuelled in part by anti-'Wahhabi' propaganda which comes mostly from the Sufis (of the Ottoman era and others), the Nusayree Baatinees (of Syria), the Rafidah Shiah of Iran (and in the past the Ba'thists of Iraq), and they have invested a great deal of money and effort (including at state-levels) to push anti-'Wahhabi' propaganda. Further, contemporary extremist and terrorist groups are associated with Ibn Abd al-Wahhaab and the 'Wahhabis' because factions of them (not all of them) attempt to support and justify their activities by appeal to Ibn Abd al-Wahhaab. This website aims to present the writings of Ibn Abd al-Wahhaab and various biographical accounts to enable an accurate depiction of the history of his reform movement, his beliefs and interactions with the leaders and common Muslims of his time.
